Newspaper reports: practising the passive
A beautifully structured series of activities on the use of the passive voice. Students start by using a newspaper report to analyse the use of the passive. They then do controlled practice through a gap-fill exercise and rewriting a paragraph using the passive. This is followed by freer practice in the context of a spoken interview with the witness to a robbery and then writing a newspaper report of the interview.
